“You don’t have to look tough to be tough” -Ahsoka Tano

During the vast Clone Wars conflict, few individuals embodied the complexities of war and duty quite like Ahsoka Tano. Trained under the legendary Anakin Skywalker, her journey from novice Padawan to a Commander of the 501st Legion unfolded against the backdrop of a galaxy torn apart by conflict. She evolved from a brash and impulsive learner into a skilled warrior and a beacon of hope, demonstrating resilience and moral clarity in a time of uncertain futures and hidden agendas. Her exploits gained her notoriety amongst the clone troopers she led, inspiring the 332nd Company of the 501st Legion to paint their armor after her unique facial markings. Join us now as we take a closer look at Padawan Commander Ahsoka Tano.

Ahsoka can affect the battlefield in new and unique ways in your games of Star WarsTM: Legion. As an Upgrade Card, Ahsoka can be added for the cost of 35 points. As a natural embodiment of Jedi leadership amongst the common troopers, Ahsoka is a Leader for any unit she joins. The unit also gains Block, Charge, and Independent: Dodge 1. This dramatically increases the effectiveness of the squad, providing both offensive and defensive bonuses. Finally, her skilled melee ability allows Ahsoka to add her lightsabers to any melee attack, as well as Critical 1, Impact 2, and Pierce 1. This improvement gives any resourceful commander a solid unit to hold down critical key points or push dug-in beachheads.

Although she is only a Padawan, Ahsoka Tano is still regarded as an effective leader during the Clone Wars. She holds the Rank of Commander, allowing her to fill a required role when building your list. For 110 points, Ahsoka has 5 Health and 2 Courage. She is an Associate of Anakin Skywalker, which means she won’t take up a Commander slot during list building.

Three upgrade slots give Ahsoka the ability to fill several different roles, with Force, Command, and Training slot options on her Unit Card. Upgrade Cards like Into the Fray pair well with her Training slot, improving Ahsoka’s defensive capabilities. Contrast this with Tenacity, adding a red attack die to an already competent close-combat profile.

A quick-moving Force user with tactical acumen, Ahsoka has no problem navigating across the most dangerous battlefields. Her Speed of 3 sees her closing the distance to her objectives more quickly than the average trooper, able to leap over difficult terrain with Jump 2. Scout 1 positions her in the best spot to aggressively pressure objectives or react to fast-moving enemy units. Ahsoka can therefore quickly rotate from a protective linebacker role to a frontline assault at a moment’s notice.

Finally, Ahsoka Tano can unleash a strong melee assault with her Lightsabers. With 3 white and 5 black attack dice, she will quickly dispatch squads of enemies and well-armored targets. Impact 2, Pierce 1, and Surge to Crit round out her martial abilities. A stalwart defender, Ahsoka will have no issue shrugging off hits with her defensive Surge to Block. Deflect provides additional protection, and Independent: Recover helps Ahsoka deal with Suppression she is sure to build up while defending her allies with Shien Mastery. This new mastery boosts her native deflection abilities, assigning one wound to the attacker for each defensive surge she rolls and stops Ahsoka from gaining Suppression when she does not suffer wounds from a Ranged attack.

As a Commander in the Grand Army of the Republic, Ahsoka brings three new Command Cards to support the units under her leadership. The first of these, Revenge Is Not The Jedi Way, is treated as a two-pip card when building a Command Hand. When played, it has four pips and Ahsoka gains 3 Dodge tokens, as well as giving her access to Jar’Kai Mastery. While using this mastery, Ahsoka will have no issue dispatching a tough foe, as each Dodge token she spends allows her to improve one attack die result.

When Ahsoka’s friends are under fire, crash into a fight with I Go Where I’m Needed. A three-pip card that Orders 3 units, this card allows Ahsoka to make a Speed-3 Move, helping her maneuver into the best possible position to utilize several added abilities. Disengage allows Ahsoka to move into a prime position to take advantage of Guardian 3. Heroically putting herself in the center of the battle, her Courage is increased by 1, allowing Ahsoka to more effectively deal with the extra Suppression she will certainly have to deal with. This nimble leap into the fray comes at a cost, however, as Ahsoka’s maximum Speed is reduced to 1, and she cannot increase her maximum Speed. This card works well if Ahsoka needs to quickly reposition and still use her actions and can provide critical protection to her clone troopers.

A highly accomplished duelist trained by the very best, Ahsoka Tano’s final Command Card ensures a decisive end to a critical fight. You Are Beaten gives her Charge this Round. Additionally, if Ahsoka defeats 1 or more enemy units, she can make up to 2 attack actions and may make a free Move action during her Activation. Finally, when she attacks an enemy unit with a Melee attack this round, after that attack is resolved, the defending unit may make a free Move action and can Withdraw with that action. With these strong Command Cards and a complete array of abilities, Ahsoka Tano brings a fearsome punch to the Grand Army of the Republic to your games of Star Wars: Legion.
