Atomic Mass Games Premieres Painting Classes at Adepticon 2024

01/04/2024

Atomic Mass Games is proud to share that we will be bringing painting classes to Adepticon 2024. Our classes strive to create approachable lessons that give beginner and intermediate painters a sense of confidence when determining and tackling the next steps of their painting journey. Our philosophy is to meet painters where they are and provide them with techniques, tips and tricks that not only help them get where they want to go with the miniature in their hands, but also give them lasting tools they can continue to investigate and grow in their understanding of the hobby. From two brush blending, to color theory, to creating visual narrative, each session is a chance to deepen our understanding of the craft.

We are thrilled to partner with Monument Hobbies to provide lessons featuring Atomic Mass Games miniatures and the Pro Acryl paint line. We welcome registrants to bring their own preferred brushes, but there will be brushes provided on site if needed. These classes are geared towards beginner and intermediate painters and will offer instruction from our Creative Director and other incredible painters from the community.

Dallas Kemp is our Creative Director at Atomic Mass Games. He works tirelessly with an awesome group of sculptors and engineers to create the coolest minis possible for our games and is the head judge of our Marvel: Crisis Protocol painting competition, The Path of the Worthy. Dallas is passionate about sharing weekly hobby content and advice with the community as they build their skills and technique arsenal, believing that painting is for everyone willing to pick up a brush and experience the excitement of miniatures gaming.

Mark Sorastro is a well known miniature painter and educator in the hobby miniatures world. Most players of our games would recognize his name from his painting tutorials on YouTube and his positive commitment to helping the community find their path in the hobby.

Brendan Roy is a freelance painter whose work has been featured on many of our studio miniatures for Atomic Mass Games. You’ve seen a ton of his work gracing our photos on social, product boxes, and more. Brendan has many years of experience in the hobby community as a gamer and miniature painter.

Speedy Spider
Teacher: Dallas Kemp
Wanna swing in on the table with fully painted minis that wow your friends and opponents? This class will go step by step on how to achieve a poppy table top look in no time flat with a few easy steps and philosophies. Bring your brushes and a positive attitude! Miniature will be provided.

Best Beskar in the Galaxy
Teacher: Dallas Kemp
Unlock the Metallocity of True Metallic Metals on one of the best bounty hunters in the galaxy. We will go over the process of using metallic paint to really show off the power of TMM by using the philosophy of light and shadow for maximum punch. Bring your brushes and a positive attitude! Miniature will be provided.

Enjoy Painting White!
Teacher: Mark Sorastro
White is often regarded as one of the more difficult or least-fun colours to work with, so in this class we’ll be learning how to approach and enjoy painting white, by working on miniatures from the Star Wars™: Shatterpoint miniatures game! We’ll be taking a look at images from the environment to learn about the properties of white objects, then exploring ways of applying that understanding to our painting. Towards the end of the class, we’ll also have some fun personalizing the model with some coloured markings, as well as some simple but effective weathering techniques! Miniature will be provided.

Glint and Steel
Teacher: Brendan Roy
In a world of non-metallic metal, what do we do with all the extra metallic paints on the rack? Well, use them for some True-Metallic Painting (TMM), of course! In this class, we’ll explore the highs and lows of painting with metallic paints, as well as its strengths and weaknesses. We’ll go through tips and tricks to get your metals fast and effective on the tabletop, as well as ways to push them to a much higher quality and contrast. If you’re the type of person that appreciates the glint coming off of a model, then this is the class for you! Prepare yourself and your models for a ton of experience as you level up your miniature painting game! Miniature will be provided.

Texture Not Conjecture
Teacher: Brendan Roy
Struggling with those fine lines? Having difficulties pushing paint straight? In this class, we’ll be working to strengthen our paintbrush handling skills and focus on getting texture applied to elements that really want it – hair, fur, and wood. With similar strategies on all three, we’ll be able to enhance our skill set, expand our techniques, and feel more confident when it comes time to pick up our brush. We’ll be able to take what we learn from this class and start applying it to everything we do in the miniature world. Miniature will be provided.

The Power of Pop
Teacher: Brendan Roy
Welcome to The Power of Pop! In this class, we’ll be using various methods to learn how to punch up models on the tabletop, and leave everyone asking to take a closer look! We’ll navigate the painting fundamentals for a short time so we can push through to techniques and philosophies that focus on really making a miniature memorable. If you’ve been struggling with flat miniatures, or you feel like you haven’t been getting those miniatures to stand out on the battlefield, then this class is for you! Miniatures will be provided, but it’s recommended you bring a miniature you want to work on so direct advice and guidance can be provided!

Painting classes will be available to sign up for when registration opens for Adepticon, so make sure you’re following their posts so you don’t miss out.
