I Am No Jedi is a deluxe duel pack which features a pair of the most formidable and legendary duelists, Ahsoka Tano, Fulcrum and Darth Vader, Fallen Master. This iteration of these characters is drawn from when they confronted one another for their pivotal duel in the ruins of a Sith temple on the world of Malachor. This duel pack includes new versions of both characters with abilities inspired from this fight.
The convention-exclusive version of this pack features a diorama terrain piece will first be offered in-person at AdeptiCon, but will also be available online through the Asmodee online store while Adepticon is happening. We have been working with Asmodee distributors worldwide to offer this exclusive pack to as many regions as possible. After Adepticon, SWP81 – I Am No Jedi Deluxe Duel Pack will be available at various conventions attended by Asmodee throughout the year. This diorama features the backdrop of the Malachor Sith temple ruins where Ahsoka and Darth Vader fought, including the energy-pulsing Holocron dock which would eventually bring an end to their duel. Additionally, the Vader sculpt in this pack offers a damaged mask option to alter the miniature to match damage inflicted by Ahsoka at the pivotal moment in their fight when she finally recognized her former master.
Here we will discuss some of the background of these characters and how they found themselves engaged in this intense duel.
The confrontation that happened on Malachor was a highly charged emotional moment between this pair of powerful individuals. Ahsoka had once been the talented padawan of Anakin Skywalker when he still served the Jedi Order and before his galaxy-changing betrayal and fall to the dark side, as encouraged by Emperor Palpatine, who revealed himself to be Darth Sidious. Many thought that Anakin Skywalker truly died when he was defeated by Obi-Wan Kenobi amid the lava flows of Mustafar, where he was left severely crippled and burned. But in the aftermath Darth Vader rose, augmented by cybernetics and the dark side to become more powerful than ever. As Darth Vader, he would commit to the destruction of all Jedi, having already gone so far as to slaughter younglings at the Jedi Temple and being tasked to train and lead the Inquisitors created by Darth Sidious.
By the time of this duel between former padawan and transformed master, Ahsoka had fallen out of touch with her former master and also turned her back on the Jedi Order, for very different reasons. Through complex circumstances related to her friendship with the woman Barriss Offee, Ahsoka was at one point accused of crimes she had not committed, including deadly attacks on the Jedi Order. She was forced to flee and go into hiding but was eventually captured and put on trial. Well before his fall to the dark side, Anakin Skywalker aided Ahsoka by bringing the true culprit, Offee, to the trial to confess, helping earn Ahsoka’s acquittal. The Jedi Council apologized for their mistake and offered to restore Ahsoka and elevate her to a full Jedi Knight, but she turned them down. The entire situation had badly undermined Ahsoka’s faith in the Order, and she felt compelled to leave them and find her own path.
Ahsoka endured hard and difficult years in the time that followed, including venturing to the Outer Rim and making friends in strange places, including others with Force powers who survived Order 66 and with ties to the growing Rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Tano had occasion to fight alongside some of the most esteemed of clone soldiers who had gone rogue to avoid being caught up in Order 66, such as former Clone Commander Rex. She also befriended the rebel-affiliated crew of the Ghost, among them the lapsed Jedi Kanan Jarrus and his young padawan Ezra Bridger. Both crewmen would encounter Sith Lord Maul, who had a special interest in turning Ezra Bridger to the dark side, and a team of hostile Inquisitors led by the Grand Inquisitor, who ultimately answered to Darth Vader. Ahsoka Tano was involved in clashes with both Inquisitors and Darth Maul, as well as providing Ezra Bridger valuable advice as a woman who had retained her values even after abandoning the Jedi Order.
The fateful confrontation at Malachor’s Sith temple ruins would involve a convoluted scheme involving Darth Maul’s plans for Ezra Bridger, one which ultimately led to a series of perilous fights that would see Maul himself fight the Inquisitors but also Ahsoka and Kanan Jarrus, eventually resulting in the latter losing his sight. It was when Ahsoka rushed up to the apex of the ruins to try to defend Ezra that she would come face to face with Darth Vader. She would begin to feel suspicions of Vader’s identity when they fought, but the truth was only revealed later in their duel, when Ahsoka damaged Darth Vader’s mask and heard his real voice. Any momentary thought that she might reach Anakin was dispelled when Darth Vader continued to mercilessly attempt to kill his former padawan. It was only through the intervention of powerful and strange forces unleashed by the Holocron dock that ended this duel. Ahsoka was thought by many, including Ezra Bridger, to have died in this clash.
All of these momentous events only lightly touched on in this summary can be found in Star Wars: Rebels. The duel and basis for the included diorama are drawn from fan-favorite Rebels episodes “Twilight of the Apprentice” and “A World Between Worlds.” These are some of the most amazing sequences featuring all of these characters, with particularly significant scenes with Ahsoka Tano, Maul, Darth Vader, the Grand Inquisitor, and his Inquisitorius subordinates, and, of course, the crew of the Ghost.
