SWZ95 Siege of Coruscant


Today’s transmission focuses on the remaining Standard Loadouts available for Separatist players in the upcoming Siege of Coruscant Scenario Pack. These new Hyena-class Droid Bombers and Droid Tri- Fighters give players plenty of new ways to show their opponents the full might of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Often, swarms will bring a Hyena Bomber to provide some support to the rest of their squad. They can take more damage than a Vulture-class Droid Fighter and have a bigger variety of tricks. One of these Hyena Bombers has learned a new pilot ability. DBS-32C has stopped coordinating friendly droids and has started to go on the attack. Now, it can perform a free jam action after calculating, twice per game. If this bomber is still flying after using both its free jams, it can perform red jam actions instead of reloads. If you are out of range to jam anything, it can instead target lock to use its Plasma Torpedoes.

For the other Hyenas, DBS-404 with Advanced Proton Torpedoes is a typical build that maximizes use of its ability. Six dice is the maximum number of dice you can ever roll, and few ships can stand up to that. The Baktoid Prototypes are here to help their swarm friends against ace lists. Remember, you can use Contingency Protocol to barrel roll into a good Homing Missile shot. They don’t even need a lock on the eventual target, if someone else still has one.

The final chassis in this expansion is the Droid Tri-Fighter. These ships are often overlooked, due to their fragility and cost. These Standard Loadout versions of these fighters will breathe new life into the ships. All of them have Afterburners to give them extra mobility, along with Contingency Protocol. DIS-347 has kept its same ability and a low loadout, so it won’t be hard for an opponent to destroy it. Try to draw an opponent out of position to do so and take advantage of its destruction (and the free action for another friendly ship with Contingency Protocol).

 

The other two Tri-Fighters have new pilot abilities. DIS-T81 can always reroll attack and defense dice. However, this power comes at a cost: deplete and strain tokens. It can be very easy to find yourself at the point where the depletes and strains seem endless, and your Tri-Fighter is effectively as powerful as a Vulture-class Droid Fighter – but with Outmaneuver and Afterburners, this ship will be very effective for players who can master walking that fine line. Phlac-Arphocc Prototypes are also present here as the high initiative Tri-Fighter. Instead of their old pilot ability, they have taken inspiration from Soontir Fel and get a free calculate token if you can bullseye a target. That’s not hard to pull off, since you can Afterburners boost, and then use your action to roll and link to an evade – which might be white due to a nearby obstacle. It’s possible to perform both reposition actions and have an evade and calculate without even being stressed!

The Siege of Coruscant pack brings a lot of new options for Separatist players. Dooku can earn a position in any high initiative ace list in the faction. You might want DBS-32C as an inexpensive source of jam tokens, or DFS-311 for calculates to help your team. The Tri-Fighters are fragile but powerful. All the other droids will work well together in a swarm. Take these new resources and strike out against the Republic for freedom and the future of the galaxy!
