A Conversation About the Path to the Worthy
Leading up to Adepticon, Dallas Kemp, our Creative Director and Head Judge for AMG’s Marvel: Crisis Protocol painting competition, The Path of the Worthy, will be making his own example entry featuring Green Goblin and the Amazing Spider-Man. We will be sharing his progress with the community via transmissions and streams over the coming months, so stay tuned!
In our first Path of the Worthy stream, Dallas spent some time discussing the categories, rules, and judging/feedback style for the competition.

He also incorporated a plinth and plastic sheeting for a backdrop on which he plans to paint a city skyline and the back end of Green Goblin’s smoke trail as he peppers the building with pumpkin bombs and Spider-Man makes his escape.
Dallas observed that his process at this stage was very organic as he plotted out composition and decided whether or not to create a panel style backdrop – having an office buddy take photos so he can consider placement before committing. He advised entrants to focus on telling a story with their pieces.
Dallas ended the stream considering a suggestion from chat that he use a different Spider-Man from the Rivals Panel – who appears to be jumping backwards from an explosion vs jumping away as the Amazing Spider-Man miniature is.
